Electric Thermal Storage,
commonly referred to as ETS, is a method of space heating by
which electricity is purchased when rates are low, converted to
heat and stored until needed to heat the home. Electricity
producers, aiming to even out demand, often provide these lower
rates to encourage use of electricity when demand is less,
during so-called off -peak hours. So ETS is a wise solution,
allowing homeowners to take advantage of economical off-peak
electricity while keeping the home comfortable with clean,
cozy, dependable electric heat.
The concept of thermal storage
began in Europe after World War II when electricity was in short
supply. Since then, ETS has been used in millions of homes
across the continent.
